A fun mentalism routine with a prediction that is 100% accurate every time.
From the fertile mind of Matt Mello comes Pulse Rate. This is a creative use of a prediction effect that is simple to perform and can be done for a large audience with minimal props. With Pulse Rate you can read a spectators aura well enough to know what their pulse rate is going to be before they take their pulse to confirm it!
The mechanics of this effect is pretty basic but applied in a way that Matt is sure has never been used before. No nail writers, or switches involved. You legitimately write down a prediction of the spectator’s pulse that will always be 100% accurate every time.
If you’re looking for a easy read then this PDF is ideal. This isn’t a hard or long read. Since the mechanics are so simple it frees the mentalist up to focus on his or her performance more than the intricate of what they are doing to make it work.
I gave this effect a try at work, and I had floored my coworker with it! The reaction was pretty amazing for such a simple trick. She screamed and refused to talk to me the rest of the morning! This is a great addition to a mentalism routine, and with a little cold reading added in on top of it you could really convince someone you had god like powers in a short amount of time.
I love having access to material that I can do with next to no set up or props, and this is certainly one of those tricks! Whether you do mentalism or mental magic this is a great little bit to add into your act.
