A Card At Any Number is a classic plot in card magic as any of the other greats such as Triumph or Cards Across.  A.C.A.A.N has been around long enough that just about every great name in card magic has introduced his own handling to the classic effect.  The idea is simple if you’ve never seen it done before.  A spectator names a card, and then calls out a number.  The cards are dealt down to the table and low and behold the spectator’s card is there at their selected number!   For many this is just about as pure and simple as magic can get.

This video is shot like you are a special guest at the table of a secret meeting of magicians as they all discuss their favorite versions of A Card At Any Number.  Mr. Tango, the session leader, shows you several handlings ranging from beginners level easy to execute to difficult to master methods involving a memorized deck. All in all you get to see four different versions of A.C.A.A.N which gives you quite a range to work with trying to find the right method that works for your needs.

The different A.C.A.A.N versions included in this DVD are some of the most beautifully deceptive and cleanest versions that I’ve ever seen.  Of course the skill level that goes into reproducing these effects for your own performances will require hours of dedication.  I only wish I was that good myself to be able to utilize most of the stuff in here.  Having said that this DVD is IDEAL for the serious student of card work.  I would consider this as essential to have in your library as any Erdnase, Vernon, or Royal Road book.

The DVD also includes special written instructions in PDF format for some of the presentations found in the video.  These PDF’s are in English and Spanish, as is the DVD.

Overall I find this DVD to be very useful in teaching different approaches to a classic effect.  Anyone from the serious student of card magic, to the working professional is going to find something in here that they can either use or adapt to their own purpose.  I highly recommend this DVD.

When I give my product scores below I am measuring them on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 Being absolute the worst score possible, and 10 being the absolute best, making a score of five average. The four points that I grade upon is Product Quality, Teaching Quality, Sound & Video Quality and Overall Quality.

Product Quality: 8
This is a great product, and it’s not too expensive either.  Very informative.

Teaching Quality: 7
Due to the language barrier some of the material can be difficult to follow at times.  The printed PDF’s help make that much easier to learn.  However the material is all golden and well worth the effort to master.

Video & Sound Quality: 7
Not bad sound and video.

Overall Quality: 9
An essential video to have for any student or performer of cards.
