We’re going to be discussing a utility device in this review that will allow you to vanish, steal, and ditch all with the same device.  This is David Penn’s Topit 180.  There have been a lot of different variations of a topit that has been sold on the market over the years and despite having knowledge of their existence, before receiving my Topit 180 from World Magic Shop I’ve myself never personally used one.  So that makes me the perfect person to write a review on this given my zero experience with this utility device up until now.  So let’s get cracking.

The package that the topit comes in is unassumingly flat.  Contains one topit, a couple safety pins, and a card with an online tutorial link.  The video opens with a nice brief history of the topic which is kind of cool if you’re a complete noob like myself and have never used one.  Installation of the topit takes about two minutes.  The Velcro holds it in place, and allows you to easily and effortlessly transfer it between your different performance jackets.  Given the design of the topit anything that you vanish will instantly, with the help of gravity, position itself in the back of your jacket allowing you to steal the object back out for an instant repeat performance.  Restaurant workers, table hoppers, bar magicians, street magicians, strolling magicians, and anyone who is dependent upon magic routines being reset between performances in a short amount of time will fall in love with the usefulness the Topit 180 provides you.  You can literally reset between tables in front of your spectator’s eyes and not miss a beat as you are strolling.

Given the usefulness of the device and the versatility of the magic that you can accomplish with the Topit 180 it’s no surprise that David Penn’s creation is an instant must have for the wonder worker seeking to create instantly repeatable miracles with various applications.  As with any topit you’re going to need to be aware of angles, and audience management, but for what it is, and what it offers, this is by far one of my more favorite acquisitions as of late.  I love utility devices, and I absolutely love my Topit 180!

When I give my product scores below I am measuring them on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 Being absolute the worst score possible, and 10 being the absolute best, making a score of five average. The four points that I grade upon is Product Quality, Teaching Quality, Sound & Video Quality and Overall Quality.

Product Quality: 9

Good price, well made.  Easy to install and easy to transfer.  The magic is versatile, visual, and instantly resettable.

Teaching Quality: 9

Well taught.  Love David’s personality.

Video & Sound Quality: 9

For an online video it’s got both good sound and good video.

Overall Quality: 9

A must have.
